The story behind Amplify

Amplify exists to help creative business owners thrive by removing the shame and confusion around their numbers, unlocking their imagination and enabling them to dream again. We believe business owners are creators, and when freed from financial chaos, they can bring beauty, purpose and renewal to the world.

  • The start

    Hi, we’re Ben and Brittany Cooper.

    Both Indiana natives, we got our start in Nashville, Ben as a full-time songwriter (eight songs on Ricky Skaggs’ Grammy-nominated album Mosaic) and Britt as a writer and editor for music magazines, enjoying chats with favorites like David Gray and Ryan Tedder before going out on her own to handle content for a large music company and craft bios for some of her favorite singer-songwriters.

  • Summer 2015

    Starting a new journey

    In 2015, we moved our family of four (now six) to Austin, where Ben earned an entrepreneurial MBA before taking on a role back in Nashville as Director of Operations for a small private equity startup.

  • Spring 2016

    Amplify is born

    We started Amplify in 2016 on a deep belief that entrepreneurs shouldn’t have to sell part of their business to gain investor insights. Ben jumped from the investor side of the table to the entrepreneur’s side, working with Nashville favorites like The Peach Truck, Amelia’s Flowers, Ranger Station and others.

  • Winter 2018

    Putting down roots

    In 2018, we bought Britt’s childhood home on four acres in Indiana. Now our days are populated with after-dinner basketball games, dropping kids at cross country practice and getting our family on the lake or into the woods whenever we can.

    Creating margin for what matters

    Through Amplify, we get to use Ben’s strategy brain and Britt’s communication savvy to help entrepreneurs understand their numbers so they can make space for what matters most to them. As the parents of four kids and entrepreneurs ourselves, we understand that many of our goals are financial, sure, but often that’s not the full extent of what we want.
